Frequently Asked Questions

Can I split specific pages instead of all pages?

This tool extracts all pages. For selective extraction, use our PDF Extract Pages tool where you can specify page ranges like '1,3,5-8'.

What format are the split pages?

Each page becomes an individual PDF file (page_1.pdf, page_2.pdf, etc.), packaged together in a ZIP archive.

How large of a PDF can I split?

No hard limit, but very large PDFs (500+ pages, 100MB+) may take longer and require sufficient device memory. Most documents under 200 pages process quickly.

Why is the output a ZIP file?

Browsers can only download one file at a time. ZIP packaging lets you download all pages in one go and extract them locally.

Does splitting reduce quality?

No. Each page is an exact copy of the original with no recompression or quality degradation.

Can I split password-protected PDFs?

Only if you can open them (user password). PDFs with editing restrictions (owner password) cannot be split. Remove passwords first using PDF unlock tools.
